Youth Ministry
Our vision is to help youth grow in the "knowledge of Jesus Christ and to mature in faith, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13b) by encouraging relationships with multi-generational and multi-gifted leaders, teaching of God's Word, leading them in corporate prayer, service and evangelism.
Beginning when our covenant children are baptized, the congregation vows to assist their parents in raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. One of the many ways in which this vow if fulfilled is by maintaining and supporting a vital youth group.
Consistent with this commitment, our youth director and all adults working with youth, point our covenantal children toward the pulpit, where all of us are directed toward Christ. Thus, the youth group is not an independent body with its own agenda but part of the larger body that worships together.
Because we believe in a covenantal view of life and ministry, we are convinced that God works in and through us together as a spiritual family called by and unto himself. Therefore, we need the full support and, in some sense, the participation of all parents and church members. Ultimately, the goal of our youth group is to create a group of Spirit filled godly people who are active members in the body of Christ.
What we do:
-Sunday morning Christian education for Jr. High & High School
We use PCA curriculum; our denomination has an outstanding biblical curriculum
-Monthly youth activities. We have a lot of fun together and do things that kids enjoy, such as Disneyland trips, laser tag, etc.
-Service projects: Jr. High & Senior High kids help at VBS, visit the elderly in and outside the body.
-Weekly youth meetings: The ACPC Youth Bible Study is on Wednesday evenings. Contact Sam Pepke for more information.
- Every summer our high schoolers look forward to attending the YXL Summer Conference in Glorieta, New Mexico. YXL stands for Youth Excelling in Leadership and is our denomination's conference designed to help students better understand Christian leadership through the development of a Reformed worldview. It is always an incredible time of growing in Christ through worship, study, prayer, fellowship and a lot of fun. Ask anyone who has been and you will hear phrases like, "Life changing!" and "Best week of my life!"
Relationships/Mentoring
-Care for and disciple our youth through personal contact.
-Pray for them and with them.
Closing
Ultimately we rest in the assurance that God will accomplish his purpose for his glory through our meager efforts. This is not because of what we do, but because he is faithful.
