Missions Ministry - Eby Family

Eby Family

This week, please pray for Dave and Darlene Eby as they serve in Kampala, Uganda! The Ebys minister primarily through Westminster Theological College and Seminary. The school’s web site explains that “Our mission is to train and equip pastors, preachers, church-planters, and leaders who have a passion for the gospel of grace and a zeal for building and multiplying healthy, strong, biblical, God-centered, and Christ-exalting churches in Uganda, Africa and to the ends of the earth.”
The Ebys send this update:
The saying goes ‘March comes in like a lion…’ We haven’t experienced the calmness of the outgoing lamb, but only the continual roar of life. At the beginning of the month Darlene had her 70th birthday and is still very active. She reports the only difference is a few more new aches in the body. Dave had his first car accident on Entebbe Road, a rear-ender for which he spent four hours at the police station, learning how the process works in a society without insurance, and thankfully being cleared of liability.
“This College term is full, with Dave teaching three courses and two independent study courses. Dave is also constantly working on the development of the Seminary and on campus development. He has been overseeing the chapel ministry at the College and lining up men to speak each week at our chapel services. Often he is asked to preach on Sunday mornings and preaches each week at our church on Sunday evenings. Dave has also been busy working with individual churches and presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church in Uganda and doing ‘consulting’ regarding various issues. “Darlene is teaching two College courses, one independent study course, and an ESL course for 13 of our students who struggle with speaking English. Her life is filled with administration work, since this semester we went from 48 students to 77. We also have the privilege of opening our home to many visitors for a night or several nights. So far in 2010 we have had 36 visitors to the Eby ‘guest house.’ “Thanks for all your prayers and support. We are approaching the beginning of our fifth year of life in Uganda. God has been so good and we are overwhelmed often by His faithfulness, so praise Him with us.” The Ebys ask you to pray for…

1. The end of the College semester, finishing course lectures, and graduation (May 15).

2. The church plant in Mayuge (eastern Uganda) with which Dave “consults”—for spiritual maturing and protection in the many battles she faces, and with praise for outreach and evangelism success among the 97% Muslim community there.

3. For purity, unity, humility, and peace in the Presbyterian Church in Uganda as she deals with several issues and conflicts.

4. The completion of the new dining hall on campus.
