Children's Ministry
We believe that our children are heirs of God’s covenant promise, a promise to be our God and to make us his people. Our children are not ultimately our own but are the Lord’s possession placed under our loving oversight, so that we might teach them about him and his gracious will for them. Our children’s ministry exists to implement a vision to advance God’s Kingdom and build Christ’s church by raising our children to trust and love Christ who saves them and makes them like himself. We aim to foster their relationship with God and his people.
With these goals in mind, we minister to kids through offering biblical instruction, singing, participating in hands-on activities, and organizing special events. All of this is designed to communicate to children who God is, what he has done, and what our grateful response should be. We are committed to providing dedicated teachers and assistants who get to know each child personally and develop discipling relationships through quality biblical instruction. We follow Paul’s motto in 1 Thessalonians 2:8: “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” We love kids and enjoy sharing both the Good News and ourselves with them.
Our commitment to our children at ACPC is fulfilled in many ways:
• Nursery (newborn through 30 months of age): Infants and toddlers are cared for by competent, screened adults and teens in the nursery during the Sunday morning worship service and during Sunday School. A cry room is also available at the back of the sanctuary.
• Children's Church during the Sunday morning worship service: Children ages 30 months (potty-trained) through pre-Kindergarten are dismissed after the first part of the worship service to attend their own worship time geared for their learning level. Together, we learn about God and worship Him through songs, a Bible lesson, and hands-on activities. Parents are welcome to keep their children with them in worship service.
• Children's Bulletin: This is available to all youngsters who remain in the worship service. Presented in a child-friendly format, the children's bulletin helps listeners follow along with the sermon and pick out the main points.
• Sunday School at 11:15: Following the break after the worship service, Sunday School classes are available for children ages 2 ½ (potty-trained) through fifth grade. Through the “Show Me Jesus” Curriculum (published by Great Commission Publications), catechism, and Scripture memory work, children will grow in their knowledge of who God is and what His plans are for His people. Emphasis is placed on helping children to build a solid, historical, and redemptive foundation for their faith.
• Easter Vacation Bible School: This is an opportunity for children (ages 4 through 5th grade) to invite their friends as we spend time together at this one day event that focuses on the miraculous story of Jesus’ birth to his death, resurrection and ascension to heaven.
• Summer Vacation Bible School: Children 4 years through 5th grade are invited to attend a fun-filled week of learning Biblical truths through singing, playing games, making crafts, and memorizing Scripture. We finish the week with a Closing Program and Ice Cream Social that is geared for the whole family.
