Church GovernmentThe Constitution of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), which is subject to and subordinate to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, the inerrant Word Of God, consists of its doctrinal standards set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith, together with the Westminster Larger Catechism, the Westminster Shorter Catechism, and the Book of Church Order.
We recognize two ordained offices: elders and deacons.
Churches are lead and overseen by two types of elders: teaching elders (ordained pastors) and ruling elders. Both have equal authority in overseeing and shepherding the Church. The heart of the elder's ministry of leadership is to shepherd the people whom God has entrusted into his care by caring for, loving, and spiritually equipping them.
Ordained deacons meet the physical and practical needs of the people in the church.
